Peptides 101: A Clinician’s Primer
Peptides are short chains of amino acids — typically 2 to 50 — that act as signaling molecules in the body. They tell cells what to do: release growth hormone, repair tissue, modulate inflammation, boost immune response. Your body already produces thousands of them. We’re supplementing the ones that decline or need amplifying.
Common categories
- Growth hormone secretagogues: Stimulate your pituitary to release more of its own GH. Used for recovery, sleep, and body composition.
- Tissue repair peptides: Accelerate healing of tendons, ligaments, and muscle. Popular with athletes and post-surgical patients.
- Immune modulators: Support immune function without overstimulation.
- Metabolic peptides: Target fat metabolism and insulin sensitivity.
How we use them at EliteRx
We don’t throw peptides at everything. A peptide protocol starts with a clinical question: What are we trying to achieve? From there, we select the right compound, dose it conservatively, and monitor response. Most peptides are administered via subcutaneous injection — same as insulin. We train every patient in-clinic before they take anything home.
The regulatory landscape
Peptide regulations are evolving. Some previously available compounds have been restricted. At EliteRx, we only prescribe peptides available through licensed, FDA-regulated compounding pharmacies. If something gets pulled from the market, we pivot to the next best option.
Who benefits most
- Athletes recovering from injury or hard training blocks
- Patients over 40 with declining growth hormone output
- Anyone focused on longevity and cellular health
- Post-surgical patients who want faster recovery
Peptides aren’t magic. They’re tools. The right tool in the right hands makes all the difference.
